PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES

Solitude

My concept for this series was the theme of solitude. I wanted to explore it not just as a subject, like a person or object on their own, but more as a feeling the viewer could experience through the image.

I thought a lot about how composition, light, and mood could work together to create that sense of being alone. I chose to present the series in black and white to remove distractions and let the emotion, shapes, and textures stand out more.

A tall wooden utility pole with barbed wire fencing, seen from below, against a cloudy sky.

All of the images were shot in manual mode, with settings adjusted depending on the subject. Some images use a shallow depth of field to draw focus, while others use faster shutter speeds or motion techniques like panning.

I shot everything handheld, which suited the style I was going for and gave me more flexibility while shooting. Throughout the process, there was a lot of trial and error — adjusting settings, changing angles, and taking multiple shots to get the result I was aiming for.

Over time, I developed a better understanding of how to use light and framing to create the mood I wanted across the series.
